Prepared according to the guidelines of the National Program for Public Security with Citizenship (PRONASCI), the Community Justice project is carried out in Rio de Janeiro through a partnership between the State Secretariat for Social Assistance and Human Rights of Rio de Janeiro (SEASDH-RJ) and the ISER.
The initiative aims to contribute to the democratization of access to justice and the promotion of participatory citizenship, through the implementation of community justice centers based on three main axes: rights education, articulation of networks It is conflict mediation.
ISER operates in the execution of seven Community Justice centers, located in the following territories: Cidade de Deus, Complexos do Alemão, Borel and Manguinhos, Morro da Providência, Miguel Couto (Nova Iguaçu) and Salgueiro (São Gonçalo).
Each center has multidisciplinary teams to carry out its activities and offer services. Among them, it is worth highlighting the holding of workshops, training and lectures on human rights and conflict mediation; the mobilization of community organizations and leaders; and the construction of spaces for dialogue that work to prevent conflicts.
Through the mobilization and training of community agents in conflict mediation, promotion of human rights and a culture of peace, this action seeks autonomy and social emancipation. This is an initiative that aims to encourage the community to build and choose their own paths to achieving justice, in a peaceful and supportive way.
